We celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali. It is a festival of lights that celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil.
The school team of St. Brigid’s S.G.N.S. recognise the importance of the Parents’ Association. All parents/guardians automatically belong to the Parents’ Association and all are welcome to join our Parents’ Committee.
How do the Parents’ Committee support the school?
Members of the Parents’ Committee review policies and practices. Their fund-raising activities also provide extra facilities for the school. They have promoted and participated in many fund-raisers over the years. This promotion and participation is voluntary and will remain so.
The main fundraising activities are sponsored events, raffles and Sales of Work. As outlined by the patron, the funds raised will be distributed in consultation with the B.O.M. and the teaching school team. Other fundraising events and sponsorship of the school have been organised locally from time-to-time. All of the above have contributed generously to the development of the facilities of the school and enabled improvements to the quality of educational opportunity available to the school community. The Parents’ Committee also provide treats to pupils or staff on special occasions, e.g. Sports Day.
We hugely appreciate the interest and effort of our supporters on behalf of the children and encourage all to cultivate and support such ventures. Parents/Guardians who have an hour or two to spare may contact the school to offer their services!
Note from The Parents’ Association: Autumn 2016:
The Parents’ Association would like to welcome the girls and boys back and hope you all had a great summer.
We would like to thank all the children for the effort they put into getting sponsors. So far we have €1200 returned. We can now get 100 desks adjusted to add trays during midterm. Our target this year is €2800 to get all the desks adjusted with trays added. We are well on our way.
There is a buzz around the school and the children are excited to be part of it. This is due to all the extra curricular activities occurring daily.
The P.A. would like to thank on your behalf Ms. Cahill and all the teachers, particularly those who help out with the homework clubs. A big thank you to Ms. Burke and Ms. McMullen for all the work they’ve been doing the past year with the GAA team and also adding a basketball team too this year. Thank you for all your time and effort.
Our Fun Day will be on the last Friday in November. We will have Christmas candles on sale for €2 each in the school. Letters will be sent out nearer the date.
New members are always welcome.
Looking forward to working with you for the good of our children!
Your Parents’ Association
Note from Parents’ Association: September 2015
Wow! Another year has flown by. Overall it was a very successful year for the Parents’ Association, with your support. We reached our target of “getting a school kit” for the girls. A photograph of the team is on the school website: stbrigidsschool.com Girls at the interschool matches need to wear navy football socks with the kit. You can purchase them locally, e.g. in Heatons.
Our target this year isto raise €2000 towards laptops forthe pupils to use inschool. Our firstfundraiser is theHallowe’en Fancy Dress. It is scheduled for Friday, 23rd October. This is a Non-Uniform Day.
We will also be supporting the big school event organised for the “Easter Rising Centenary”. We will fundraise for costumes and stage equipment. If you have any unwanted suitable costumes, please donate them to school. If you have any old white kids’ school shirts, we need them for costumes – please send them in as soon as possible. Watch this space!
Our Christmas Fun Day is on Friday, 27th November. We will have a Cake Sale on this day too.
Thanking You again,
