We celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali. It is a festival of lights that celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil.
We’ve had a great number of fantastic initiatives for keeping active and fit this year. We have had Cricket Lessons with the guys from Dublin City Council, Cycling Skills with Eoin, (aka Doctor Bike), Camogie and Football with Erins’ Isle Coaches, Swimming in the local Finglas Leisure Centre, Indoor Athletics with Leslie from the H.S.E. and a Football Blitz with the local Garda Síochána. Our pupils also take part in blitzes and tournaments with other schools. This year we will also take part in the Santry Stadium Athletics Day.
Teachers are using GoNoodle Activities in their classrooms for short breaks between lessons, as well as putting the pupils through their paces with gymnastics, games, athletics, dance and outdoor and adventure activities.
Just in case you think that’s not enough, we hold our annual ACTIVE WEEK in the first week in June. Activities are planned for the entire week. We will have a SPONSORED ‘ACTIVE ACTIVITIES’ DAY ON THURSDAY this year. (All proceeds raised went towards purchasing more P.E. equipment) We will end the week with SPORTS DAY ON FRIDAY, 9th JUNE 2017.
We continue with WOW (Walk on Wednesdays) for all classes as part of our Green Schools Initiatives.
