We celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali. It is a festival of lights that celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil.
We were fortunate to set up a new library in recent years, with the assistance of a Dormant Funds grant. We have a very wide variety of books (fiction and non-fiction), audio material and ICT. We have graded readers, picture books, graphic novels and good quality children’s reading books. The Alice Library System makes it easy to borrow materials and keep account of children’s reading. It is a true library media centre…
We remind pupils: Choose carefully. Look at the book cover, then browse the blurb and do the five-finger test on any page. When you’ve decided which book to pick, remember to care for it by keeping it clean, in good condition and return all books by the due date. Most of all, we hope you enjoy your read!
A reminder to parents/ guardians: We encourage children to borrow library books to extend and enrich their enjoyment of reading and to enable them to learn research skills. We appreciate your assistance in helping your child to develop good reading habits, as well as responsibility for school property. The dedicated library book grant to schools was cut in recent years, so if you have unwanted children’s books/comics/magazines/CDs in good condition, we are always grateful for donations to the library.
We have the Book Beanstalk growing well – let’s get it all the way down the corridor. Ms. Cahill created this little reminder to keep on reading:
