Peace Proms Concert

On Saturday, 31st January , some of the Sixth class girls took part in the Peace Proms Concert in the RDS with Fourth and Fifth Class girls. We met outside the school around 10 o’clock and got the bus along with the other girls from the fourth and fifth classes. The concert included singers, Irish dancers, a violin soloist, pipers, and of course, the stars of the show – the Peace Proms Choir. It was a fantastic day and the girls did the school proud.

Project Work

4th class worked very hard on projects in November. Each project group could choose any topic with a History, Geography or Science theme. We had a wide variety of topics – The Solar System, Portugal, Poland, Ancient Egypt, Greece, U.S.A., Volcanoes, Ireland, The Body and the Irish Famine to name a few!  We put our projects out on display. Each group also gave a short project presentation to our class and Ms Burke’s class.

Hallowe’en

We celebrated Hallowe’en in Room 4 by making some food for our Hallowe’en party and playing Hallowe’en games. We made skeleton bones, satsuma pumpkins, banana ghosts, spooky punch and wriggly jelly worms. We played bobbing for apples, which was great fun. The class also created some spooky spells and painted spooky pictures to add to the Hallowe’en magic.  Check out our photos.

Clay

We spent a month in term 1 working with clay. We looked at the work of clay artists for inspiration. We made a clay tile first. Then we made a clay pot using the coil technique. We learned how to make slip- this works like glue and ensures bits of our pots don’t fall off when they dry!
